グッゲンハイム美術館は、フランク・ロイド・ライトによって設計された美術館で、吹抜けに面した螺旋状の展示空間が特徴である。フランク・ロイド・ライトの設計したニューヨークの「グッゲンハイム美術館」の正式名称は「ソロモン・Ｒ・グッゲンハイム美術館」です。「ソロモン・Ｒ・グッゲンハイム」はアメリカの鉱山王の名前です。

名建築家フランク　ロイド　ライトの作品として著名。何回か訪ねたのだが、常設展示の作品ではカンディンスキーの数点が印象に残った。企画展示会で印象に残っているのは、建築家ザハ　ハディットの展示会で、最上階から１階まで、螺旋の展示空間が実に巧みに作品を配置して、印象的であった。日本の美術館にはこのような螺旋を利用した展示空間はない。それだけで、異次元空間の体験でもある。

スウェーデンの抽象絵画家、ヒルマアフクリントの展示と写真家のメープルソープの展示がやっていた。ちょうどpay you wishの日に行ったので、2ドルで入ることができた。でも正規料金だったら払わないかも、という感想。好きな画家の展示がやっていたら行くのがいいと思う。螺旋系と建築は、最初は億劫だなと思っていたが、降りるときはそれなりに楽しかった。逆再生しているみたいで。ミュージアムショップが結構良かった。

1992年に訪れた。ロシアンアヴァンギャルド展をやっていた。フランク・ロイド・ライトの建築と展示物の素晴らしさが相まって、一生思い出に残る場所になった。また行きたい。

フランク・ロイド・ライトのユニークな建築。7階まで上がってゆっくり下りながら鑑賞するスタイル。

ニューヨークシティパスで入館しましたが、常設展示の中国関係が多く、余り興味が湧きませんでした。ピカソ等の有名な作品も少し有りましたが、トップオブザロックの方が、良かったと後悔しました。外観は良かったですが。

建築に興味のある人なら一度は訪れてみたい場所ではないでしょうか！10年前は確か外壁の工事か何かで足場がかかっていましたが、今回は中も外も堪能出来ました！

建物は渦巻き状で変わっていますが、展示内容を確認してから行くことをオススメします。私が行った時は、中国作品の特別展示でしたが、何がいいのかサッパリ分かりませんでした。

なにより建物がおもしろい‼️螺旋上になっつおり、そこにも美術品が飾っています。行く価値は大いにあります‼️

モジリアーニの絵を見に行きました。展示物も美術館を建物も個性的でした。Tシャツを買いました。

螺旋階段を使った展示が素晴らしいもう一度行ってみたいミュージアムです。

大きくはないが、ニューヨーク滞在で訪れるべき美術館の一つ。所蔵品もさることながらここの美術館の大きな目玉はその建物自体にある。中に入ると吹き抜け状に高い天井から光が差し込むようにカタツムリ状に設計されており、訪問者は壁側に渦巻状に展示されたアート作品を観ながら上階へ登っていく。オススメは下から登るのではなく、はじめにエレベーターで一番上に行き、下に降りてくるという経路。階の途中には常設展や、特別展示の作品が観られる部屋があるので、見逃さないように。ここのギフトショップは小さいが、センスの良いグッズがある。メットほど大きくないが、入場料金は高いので、週に一度pay as you wishで入れる日に狙っていくのも良い方法。にしても、ここの訪れずしてニューヨークのアート好きは語れないので、アート好きならマストで行くべきスポットの一つであることは間違いない。時間としては2時間ほど観ておくと十分に全ての部屋が回れると思う。

最高な建築

工事中で全く見れませんでした。友達が荷物を中に忘れてしまいましたがスタッフが冷たかったです。

現代美術は難しいという人でも、建物を内外から含めて楽しみたければおすすめ。

フランク・ロイド・ライトの建築。美術館を螺旋状にするというありそうでなかった発想。楽しかった。彫刻類・現代美術が多いと思いきや、絵画もあったので入館する価値はある。

NYを代表する美術館に比べると比較的小さめ。建築物の設計は面白いと思います。

丁度改装中で残念でしたが、逆に見れない絵画が無い状態の建築内部を見ることが出来ました。ミュージアムショップもオリジナルが多くて楽しい。

建物は斬新です。建物内は、最上階迄緩やかスロープが続いています。最初平行感覚が乱れて少し目まいがしましたが、慣れてくる無くなりました。一方展示物は、中国からの出品が多く見られました。

オンラインチケットは購入時にメンバー登録が必須でひどく面倒。さらに届くのはチケットではなくレシートで、それを受付に見せて実際のチケットを受け取らなくてはならない(もちろん並ぶ必要はない)。大勢の人が来る場所なのに、こんな不便な仕様になっているのはどうも理解できない。見方はもちろん自由だが、まずエレベーターで6Fまで上がり、下がりながらみる方が当然ながら楽。3F辺りにカフェがある。この近辺に食事を取る場所があまりないが、通常屋台が入り口の前に出ている。

ニューヨーク近代美術館やMoMAに比べると地味な印象だが、みどころはいっぱいあった。

建物も素晴らしいがコレクションも見応えが有ります。

私が訪問した際はモダン・イタリアの展示をやっており、建築自体の素晴らしさも合いまって非常に楽しめた。街並みからもっと浮いているのかと思いきや、意外と馴染んでいる様子も良かった。

建物は確か有名なフランク・ロイド・ライトの設計です。中は外観同様ぐるぐる渦巻き状にスロープ状の廊下を登っていきます。…だった記憶があります。

興味と印象深い建物

展示の作品よりも建物の方が見る価値あり。

思ったよりあまりですが建物のデザインがよっかった

建築物自体がワクワクさせてくれるし、空間が心地よいです。

建物だけでも見る価値ありの美術館。もう、芸術です。

展示物も多くなく、回るのに時間はかかりません。時間、日程調整に適してます。

作品が間近に見れます。写真も撮れてGood!

この建物の作りにまず驚かされます。グルグルと巻貝のような建物を歩きながらめぐってくるのですが、これ自体がある意味アート。

建築が好きならお勧めです。

Ein architektonisch sehr interessantes Gebäude. Der berühmte Auf-/Abgang ist sehr angenehm zu gehen. Die Bilder perfekt in Szene gesetzt.

Great Kandinsky collection and stunning building. But definitely too expansive! $25 for such a small museum and not that many pieces is way too pricey...

They are a part of the reciprocal museum pass which is awesome. It’s a beautiful building and the rotunda is a nice concept. I would probably do more research on the exhibits as they are long running, huge, and there were only 4, one of which I could not appreciate as much.

Its a beautiful, one of a kind building where MIB got filmed! I found out as i walked in. Its a perfect short walk. I saw everything in about an hour and absorbed all that beautiful art. My favorite artist was vasily krasinski. The store was phenomenal, i wish I couldve gotten everything. From artist materials, to lamps, tote bags, glasses..etc. i would love to come back one day. The staff was super friendly too.

Great art by some famous artists. Worth the trip

Had high expectations but was a little disappointed which was most likely my fault. Most of the art was abstract and it wasn’t my cup of tea. The ones in display were pieces from Etel Adnan and Vasily Kandinsky.Ticket prices were the same as the MET but with less art so that didn’t make sense to me. If in a time crunch, this can definitely be completed in about an hour.

Amazing space for viewing up close and from afar.

The lines here can get extremely long. Buying a New York pass is a must if you want to avoid lines and save money. The architecture is amazing and the exhibitions are very interesting. You HAVE to visit at least once in your lifetime.

Iconic building that is worth visiting if youre interested in architecture. If youre interested in standing and staring at a piece of art on order to take it all in, this is not the right place to go. Today was my second visit to the museum and the continuous circular ramp for the main exhibit is tiresome at best and can be dizzying at worst.The current Kandinsky exhibit is also set up in a way that was disorienting and poorly curated, on top of the uphill climb to see all the works. It is a reverse chronology of his work. Each period of his life was described using some detail from previous parts of his life that had yet to be revealed. It was like reading a book backwards. Perhaps if the visitor is well versed on Kandinskys career it would be interesting to deconstruct his artistic progression, but it was confusing to the average art viewer. Half-way through the exhibit I matched straight to the end so that I could actually start at the beginning of his painting career and learn how he progressed through the experience of two world wars and moves from one country to another - and then it started to make sense. The few descriptions of the paintings on the walls also were long and not often very revealing.The exhibit rooms that connect off of the main ramp have pleasantly flat, even floors, but low ceilings and feel very confined.

Unfortunately for the breadth and depth of what is in the collection, the admission price is EXTREMELY overpriced. The price could be warranted if there were a vast collection, but at present there is a small permanent collection with a smattering of known European artists (roughly 20 pieces) and then three current time-limited exhibits, with two that can easily be skipped, leaving it basically $25 for adult admission to see Kandinsky, which takes roughly an hour to see. We had tried to go on a free day and pre-COVID the line was around the block. There are select Saturdays with a pay what you wish but you have to reserve in advance and they only offer times 4-6p (closes at 6) in blocks of :00 / :15 / :30 / :45. Tickets must be purchased in advance for a set time and you are not (in theory) allowed to come early or late (but admission early or late is at their discretion).

Amazing place to appreciate wonderful pieces of art with family and friends. I had a very good time.
